Foundations of Yoga: Back to Basics
Date: January 2026
Time: 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm
Location: Seattle/ Online ( Hybrid)
Start the year by reconnecting to the heart of yoga. This four-hour workshop is designed for complete beginners and for anyone who wants to return to the basics of practice. Together, we will explore yoga as both a philosophy and a movement practice, giving you the tools and confidence to step into any class with ease.
What we will explore
• The history of yoga and a gentle overview of the 8 limbs of yoga
• A brief introduction to Sanskrit, the ancient language used to name many yoga poses
• Breathwork/pranayama techniques for energy and calm
• Foundational postures with safe alignment and prop support, including mountain pose, child’s pose, cat cow, downward dog, forward folds, lunges, gentle twists, sun salutations, etc
• Tips for building a personal practice and entering group classes with confidence

This workshop is the first in a series. Part two will offer a deeper exploration of yoga philosophy, including the 8 limbs, ethical practices, and how these teachings can support modern life.
